About

“I’ve been watching this inlet for 50 years, and I’ve got opinions.”

Who is Balcony Bob?

I’m just a grumpy old guy who sits on his balcony overlooking Hillsboro Inlet in Pompano Beach, Florida. From my perch just southwest of the historic Hillsboro Lighthouse, I watch the boats come and go, the jet skiers annoy everyone, and the sun rise over the Atlantic.

What This Is

From my balcony, I post:

The Hillsboro Lighthouse

The Hillsboro Inlet Light has been guiding mariners since 1907. Its distinctive black and white skeletal frame makes it one of the most recognizable lighthouses in Florida. Standing 142 feet tall, it’s one of the few remaining skeletal iron lighthouses in the United States. I can see it from my balcony, and it features in every episode.
